Palace of Villadompardo and Arab Baths
Villadompardo’s Palace is a Renaissance building from the end of the 16th century, it was the residence of Peru’s viceroy Fernando de Torres y Portugal. It was built under the ruins of the old Arab Baths that remained buried until Enrique Romero discovered them in 1913. In the seventies they were restored by Luis Berges Roldán, from that moment the Arab Baths from the 10th-11th century were open to the public; they are considered the largest and best preserved of Spain.
Nowadays, the Palace houses the "Manuel Moral" Naif Art Museum and the Popular Traditions Museum.
The restoration works of the palace were awarded with the Europa Nostrum Award in 1984.
Por motivos de obras en el Centro Cultural Baños Árabes, permanecerán temporalmente cerrados algunas salas del Palacio.
